Shared Purpose

Family Fare supports local nonprofits throughout the geography where Family Fare operates. The selection of 501-C 3 Organizations for Family Fare’s Shared Purpose Funding is a grass roots effort derived from our Service Collaboration and Support Center Administrative Representatives and our Independent-Entrepreneur Franchisees.

Each established Store Region and the Service Collaboration and Support Center may nominate a qualifying organization once per year. If you or your nonprofit 501-C 3 Organization would like to be considered for Family Fare’s Shared Purpose Initiative, you may direct inquiries at individual Family Fare Stores to the Franchisee at the store or contact a member of the Service, Collaboration and Support Center Administrative Team. The region representatives, whether Service, Collaboration and Support Center Administrative Team Members or Franchisees, in collaboration with one another select recipients each year for Family Fare’s Shared Purpose Initiative.

Family Fare representatives attended the 2019 Habitat for Humanity appreciation breakfast on April 30, 2019 and presented a check for $2,500.00 their organization, which serves Durham and Orange counties. This organization helps to build affordable homes for people in our community and is a vital asset in enriching lives through its program. Their Habitat Restore in Durham , N.C. offers used home furnishings for sale, another way they extend service to the community. Several of the administration staff from the Family Fare Service Collaboration and Support Center will volunteer at the Restore in May to further extend Family Fare’s giving to this great organization! 5 K Great Human Race

Image 2 of 7

Family Fare President, Lee Barnes, volunteered at the 5 K Great Human Race on Saturday March 23 in downtown Durham, benefitting hundreds of triangle non-profits. In addition to setup and welcoming duties, Dr. Barnes was the Official Race Starter, setting the racers to their mark and firing the starting horn. After sounding the horn, Lee also slipped back behind the starting line and jogged the race as well. It was a beautiful brisk day through the lovely Forest Hills neighborhood and adjacent to Forest Hills Shopping Center, Forest Hills Family Fare, and Forest Hills Park. The final leg concluded down the American Tobacco Trail and back to the starting point at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The GREAT HUMAN RACE is the largest collaborative fundraising event in the Triangle operated by The Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center, benefiting hundreds of nonprofits. Celebrating 24 years with the 2019 running, this unique event combines a nonprofit fundraising platform with a 5K Run & Community Walk raising over $3 million since 1996! Family Fare is a proud supporter of The Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center.
